The best way to describe Reckoning Night is to think of it as Winterheart’s Guild, Part 2. If you liked Winterheart's Guild, chances are, you are probably gonna like Reckoning Night. This band won Nuclear Blast's Young Metal Gods competition and got themselves a record deal. Unlike the Pop Idol winners, though, this band is worth your time. They hail from Finland and, quite surprisingly, are NOT a Stratovarius clone! Dyecrest play power/melodic metal with a very modern edge.

The main complain with Pt.1 was the heavy use of orchestration which was a huge departure from what the band used to do, and the sometimes-annoying high vocals. I know that I'm going to get killed for saying this, but to me, RDCE is a mediocre album. The biggest problem I found with this album lies in the choruses: most songs start out pretty damn nicely and are completely ruined by the chorus. And you already know how important choruses are.
