Sweet it worked. Ok, looks like it finally let me make this.
I've had a lot of new acquisitions, so I'm not gonna comment on them all like usual, just list them. But I love them all!! Iron Maiden The Early Years, Part1DVD Tad Morose Modus Vivendi Edguy Hellfire Club Metal Church The Weight of the World Dragonforce Valley of the Damned Jon Oliva's Pain 'Tage Mahal Dream Evil Dragonslayer Russell Allen Atomic Soul Symphony X V: The New Mythology Suite Steel Prophet Messiah Scorpions Unbreakable Vision Divine Stream of Consciousness Primal Fear Devil's Ground Helloween Walls of Jericho with Helloween EP Gamma Ray No World Order Queensryche Rage for Order AND The Warning Fates Warning FWX Redemption self title AND The Fullness of Time Bruce Dickinson - Accident of Birth AND Tyranny of Souls Yngwie Malmsteen Trilogy AND Attack!! Demons & Wizards self title AND Touched by the Crimson King Evergrey In Search of Truth AND A Night to Remember (both the CD and DVD) Dio Inferno: Last in Live AND Evil or Divine: Live in NYC (both the CD and DVD) Dream Theater Live at the Budokan AND Octavarium Brainstorm Soul Temptation AND Liquid Monster Nocturnal Rites Afterlife AND Shadowland AND New World Messiah I hope thats all. My collection is steadily growing. But of course, unfortunately, its growth is inversely proportional to the amount of money that I have. Currently Ive got my eyes set on (amongst many others): Black Sabbath Live Evil Circle II Circle Middle of Nowhere Yngwie Malmsteen Unleash the Fury Ozzy Osbourne The Prince of Darkness Box Set Awesome, a thread I started that people will actually post on. |

Here's my latest haul: "Hell Bent for Leather" by Judas Priest: A classic Priest album in every sense of the word! My favorite songs were Delivering the Goods, Rock Forever, Evening Star, Hell-Bent for Leather, Burnin' Up, Green Manalishi, and Killin' Machine. Hey, by the way did I ever tell any of you that my boss Matt looks exactly like Rob Halford, even down to the pointed ears, and he's only barely heard of Judas Priest! Looks like I'll have to do some serious converting with this guy! "The Best of Accept": Wow! My first Accept album! I can't believe I haven't bought anything from this band before! These guys are very Priest-like, there's no question about that, and the guitar solos are awesome! Some people I know hate Udo Dirckshneider's (sp?) voice, but I absolutely love it. It seems to enhance the whole bombastic, badass sound of the band. While I loved every song on this album, my favorites have to be Fast as a Shark, Turn Me On, and Head Over Heels. "Tyranny of Souls" by Bruce Dickinson: My first album from the mighty lead singer of Iron Maiden, and let me tell you, I certainly wasn't dissapointed! Dickinson's voice is as mighty as ever, and I thought the whole idea behind this concept album was awesome: the idea that God and his angels and Satan and his demons are aliens from another world/civilization. While this concept might piss off some Christians, especially the fundamentalist ones, I absolutely loved it! My favorite songs off this album were Abducted, Soul Intruders, Kill Devil Hill, Navigate the Seas of the Sun, Power of the Sun, (absolutely loved the Gamma-Ray-esque guitar solo on this track!) and Devil on a Hog. "A Black Moon Broods Over Lemuria" by Bal-Sagoth: Words truly can't express how awesome this melodic black metal band is! We come from the age of chivalry. Metal machines unchained and free!

Here I go again
Saxon - Wheels of Steel (Awesome the title track just rocks) Saxon - Killing Grounds (Another great album by a group of masters, every track is amazing, Killing Ground, Court of the Crimson King and Deeds of Glory are the ones that stick out most) Stratovarius - Stratovarius (Their new release. The first time i listened to it I was a little bemused, the music seemed differant to the usual stuff. Then I listened to it again, and since then it's grown on me.Maniac Dance is truly awesome, as is Fight!!! and Just Carry on. All in all not an unpleasent track exsists on that album) Helloween - Treasure Chest (The Greatest hits. I love it all. Especially Dr.Stein and I Want Out) HammerFall - Legacy of Kings (A great album, should be listened to in its entirety, or not at all imo. The title track is mind blowing and is cheesy enough to physically eat as is Let the Hammer Fall) I'm thinking of dabbling in Blind Gaurdian, but which albums should I get ? P.S Sorry about the Whitsnake I am the master of this world of ours, You are the thorn in my side

Blind Guardian - Forgotten Tales - great collection of songs. some cool covers (especially mr. sandman and surfin usa!!!), and some different versions of other songs. all sounds good.
hey, don't apologize for the whitesnake reference! WHITESNAKE RULES!!! and i don't own but one blind guardian studio album, imaginations from the other side. great, great album. i definitely recommend that. |

I only have one Blind Guardian album too, "Nightfall in Middle Earth", and I'd heartily fecommend that one. It's a concept album based on J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Silmarillion". Plus Blind Guardian are the band that got me into heavy metal! They are metal bards in every sense of the word!
Getting back to the original topic, yesterday I bought "Atomic Arena" by Barren Cross. I have to admit, I felt a bit of trepidation buying this as they're considered "Christian Metal", as I've had bad experiences with Christian metal such as Stryper **BLECH!!** But I've got to admit these guys really rock! Their lead singer sounds exactly like Bruce Dickinson and their style is like Iron Maiden mixed with Lizzy Borden. I'd heartily recommend these guys to any true metal fan. We come from the age of chivalry. Metal machines unchained and free!

Get Imaginations from the Other Side by Blind Guardian. A perfect album with a lot of King Arthur myth references.
Lately I've been on a black metal fix and picked up two nice selections: Immortal- Damned in Black (unearthly chilling and brutal as Immortal always is. Probably my favorite BM band.) Enthroned- Xes Haereticum- traditional black metal with harsh vocals and lots of blastbeats! blazing solos included. I enjoyed this one a lot. |

just got malmsteen's new album, unleash the fury!!! and it's great. sure, i admit that it sounds EXACTLY like his other albums and that some of the riffs and even solos are sometimes familiar. but i love to hear this guy play and he has a great band. who says he has to change? he can do whatever he wants. this album has great vocals, riffs and solos. the only song i didn't like so much was (coincidentally?) the one yngwie sang lead vocals on. his vocal song on attack!! was a lot better i thought. otherwise it's a great cd, and even if he puts out the same thing over and over and never changes his style, i'll still buy his albums. i love it.
"Immortal- Damned in Black (unearthly chilling and brutal as Immortal always is. Probably my favorite BM band.)" haha, he said bm. sorry. couldn't help myself. |

nothing wrong with stryper. just a preference thing with everybody. to each his own.
just got avantasia - the metal opera pt. 2. i don't have part 1, but i found this in a store this weekend. FYE, for those of you who know this store, has an actual heavy metal section apart from the rock/r&b section. tons of heavy, thrash, progressive, power, death, black, etc. awesome! anyway, pt. 2 is great. i love this album. story is a little wierd, but it's very cool hearing all the different voices collaborating. great music, too. tobias sings on all the songs, and i love the range in his sound that he expresses. not just how he sounds on edguy songs, but he can sing really cool and heavy as well at key points which make the song great. great power metal riffs and drumming as well. great album. highly recommended for power metal fans. |

alright!!! more stuff. yesterday i bought 4 albums while on a trip to shreveport to see a football game. along the way i got these.
Van Helsing's Curse - Oculus Infernum: A Halloween's Tale for those of you who don't know what this is, it is dee snider's project to make a halloween version of the trans-siberian orchestra. i think it's great. just dark heavy metal compositions incorporating (like TSO does) bits of songs to fit into the music, like the tubular bells song, carmina burana, in the hall of the mountain king, and an unexpectedly great version of black sabbath. dee does some cheesy narration in between the songs, and i think it fits in pretty well into the album. cool stuff. no lyrics in any of the songs, but operatic vocals during some parts. i think it's great. will make for some great listens around halloween time. James Labrie - Elements of Persuasion i love james labrie's voice. and he sings with plenty of variety on this album. some great guitar work. awesome solos and good crunchy down-tuned riffs. cool songs. good album. Stratovarius - Infinite i strayed from this one for a while because though i knew that phoenix was on it (great song), i also knew that hunting high and low as well as freedom were on it. not that those songs are at all bad, but if the rest of the album took that direction, i wouldn't like it so much. but i finally got it, and i'm very pleased. a lot of good songs. Stratovarius - Stratovarius i freaked out when i heard that the boys had split up. i guess some of you remember that. then they reunited and i was so happy. then jari left, and i freaked out again. i was worried about this album initially. i had heard maniac dance, and was sort of disappointed. but when i found it in the store, i said to myself, "who am i kidding? i need this!!" so i bought it, and thank goodness i did. wow. i love this album. even maniac dance is getting fun to listen to. gypsy in me and land of ice and snow are my least favorites, but the rest are great. you can't hear much of their neo-classical roots, leaving a heavy and aggressive power metal album. and it's awesome. i don't want to hear crap about it being the same as their other stuff. because this sounds pretty different. it's great. i love it. highly recommend it. definitely better than the elements albums (which i loved). so that's it for a while probably. but we'll see. |
