This attitude has been going on as long as trends and fads have been around. My dad was a greaser type in the 50's and early 60's, and he said he was generally treated like a disease. I remember him saying that the tv show Happy Days was full of @#%$ because in real life people like the Fonz was avoided like the plague. People like Ritchie Cunningham was the mainstream, and people like that were really stuck up arrogant jerks who thought they were cool. It's just the same ole crap. So true metalheads are like the modern day Fonz, embrace it.

A realistic portrayal of how it was, was in the movie The Outsiders. Watch that movie, and forward 40 to 50 years. That's us now, at least to a certain degree.
