...that will remove a thread featuring let's say AC/DC, Rush, or Kiss because the band isn't metal or metal enough, but they will allow @#%$ like slipknot on there ? I know that some of those bands aren't considered metal by some, but the fact is they are at least directly linked or related to metal. They fathered or influenced metal, and quite a bit of their music can be considered metal while quite a bit of their other material at least falls into a gray area. If a moderator on a board wants to draw a fine line and remove bands like this from a metal board, they do have that right I suppose, though it is hypocritical to allow rapcore and mallcore @#%$.
I'm not saying that it is an on going thing in these boards or particular board, but it has happened a few times. I got jumped for questioning their practices, which didn't occur anymore often than them allowing the hypocrisy to take place. They had an arbitrary vote on what is metal enough to be posted on the metal board, which become one of the board rules. The "gray" area bands as one of the moderators called them himself were removed from the metal board several times even before the vote and the rule, while breaking his own rule by allowing several rapcore threads like slipknot on the metal board at least on a couple of different occasions, and that was after the vote and rule. And yes, a couple of the rapcore groups were voted as not being metal by most of the voters believe it or not. If a "hard rock" band was posted on the metal board it was removed almost instantly, but only after a couple of members bitched about several mallcore or rapcore threads on the metal board were they finally removed. You see the double standard here ?
The site at one time was a good site, but over time more and more "nu-metalers" or at the very least people that like the @#%$ out of "nu-metal" started joining and the site allowed itself to become more and more tolerant to that kind of stuff on the metal board and less acceptive of "hard rock" bands on the metal board. In other words, you are more likely to get away with posting slipknot for example on the metal board than AC/DC for example. I'm sure most here would say either is metal, but which one would you choose to allow on the metal board if you had to make a choice ? And which band do you think would fall closer to metal or at least more directly related to metal ? Again, if rapcore is allowed, then allow "hard rock" and shut the hell up or abide by your own freaking rule and remove rapcore also. ******* hypocrites and sellouts.
Rapcore and so forth is just white rap with untalented or wannabe musicianship. It is an alternative form of "music", and I'm sure most of you here would agree that it isn't true metal. What I'm saying is if a board will allow itself to blur the line and allow rapcore, mallcore, and sometimes grunge, then it is a double standard to draw such a fine line and remove other bands like the ones I mentioned for an example. If a board is going to split hairs, don't be a hypocrite about it is basically all I'm saying. If a metal board is going to feature "true" metal and discriminate "hard rock", then don't feature rapcore, mallcore, or grunge. Not even once, I mean 0 tolerance.
I think too many people want to either change the definition of metal so it excludes bands that aren't "hip" anymore, or they do not have respect to those bands that are the root of metal. What's sad about this situation is that many people with this attitude grew up on classic metal or "hard rock". How quick people are to jump on the bandwagon or even sell out to keep from feeling too old or "unhip". I'm proud to be a veteran rocker and metalhead, if it weren't for people like me supporting it through the good times and bad times, there wouldn't be any metal. I think I would be an ass to jump on the bandwagon all of a sudden. Some claim they are just trying to be tolerant, but who is going to be tolerant of real/true metal if everyone ends up with that attitude ? Just look up the definition of tolerance, and you will see that one meaning says it is to suffer, well maybe that's why metal has suffered for so long. What's the use in having a website and a board to unite and support metal, when the site and board turns around and allows the very garbage they are supposed to be uniting against on there ??? The poseurs and sellouts need to go and **** themselves.
I'm not expecting this site or board to feature "hard rock" bands, but at least it doesn't support rapcore or any of that other crap.
Rant over.
